1- I am graduating from my doctorate
It is necessary to send the graduation petition, thesis examination approval form and thesis control form to the Institute via the Department, and 7 hardcover theses should be submitted to the Institute within 30 days after being successful in the thesis defense exam.
2- What should a student who has become successful in his/her PhD Thesis Defense do?
The institute is notified of the thesis defense exam official reports, which certify that the thesis defense is successful, through EBYS by the Department within 3 working days.
3- How to apply for a PhD thesis defense?
Thesis Defense Jury proposal form, thesis control form and turniten (Similarity rate page) form, transcript, summary and content page of the thesis, and instructions on how to make an exam are sent to the Institute through EBYS via the Department. 4- I got additional time to defend my PhD thesis, what should I do?
A maximum of 6 (six) months can be given for the thesis defense exam for the graduate program students. Within this period, the thesis defense exam must be taken again with the same jury. (Article 50 of Erciyes University Postgraduate Education Regulation).
5- Do I have to fulfill the publication requirement before I take the PhD Thesis Defense Exam?
This condition is required for students who have entered as from the fall semester of the 2019/2020 Academic Year. 6- When can I graduate from the PhD program at the earliest?
Provided that at least eight semesters are completed, students who have completed two semesters in the Specialization Field Course and thesis study can apply to take the Thesis Defense Exam.
7- How to change the subject of a PhD thesis?
Change of Thesis Topic should be made by preparing the thesis information form again and submitting it to the Institute Directorate with the advisor's proposal and the decision of the academic board of the Department. Since at least four semesters of thesis study and Specialization Field Courses are required to be taken in order to graduate, these periods should be taken into account if the thesis topic is to be changed. 8- What is Thesis Monitoring Committee (TMC)?
For the student whose thesis proposal is accepted, the thesis monitoring committee should report twice a year, in June to evaluate the January-June period and in December to evaluate the July-December period.
9- Which courses should I register for after my PhD Thesis proposal is accepted?
After the thesis period starts, 240 ECTS must be completed by taking Specialization Field Course and Thesis Study I, II, III, IV in a total of 4 semesters (360 ECTS for students admitted with a bachelor's degree). If you have not graduated yet after taking these courses, the same courses are taken sequentially until you graduate. (Article 48 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation)
10- I was successful in the PhD qualifying exam. What should I do now?
TMC (Thesis Monitoring Committee) members are formed after the PhD qualifying exam is successful. In the following semester (within the first 6 months), the thesis proposal can be given by taking the thesis proposal presentation exam. For students who are unable to present their thesis in the first six months, 3 more months may be given in the following semester. (Article 47 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation)
11- I have completed my PhD course period. How do I take the PhD qualifying exam?
A student accepted with a master's degree takes the qualifying exam at the end of the semester following the end of the courses at the earliest, at the end of the fifth semester at the latest; and a student accepted with a bachelor’s degree takes the qualifying exam at the end of the semester following the end of the courses at the earliest and until the end of the seventh semester. (Article 46 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation)
12- In which situations is my registration likely to be deleted while pursuing a PhD program?
* Students who fail to complete the course period in 4 (four) semesters, who fail to complete the Scientific Preparation program in two semesters, and who do not submit their thesis at the end of 12 (twelve) semesters will be disenrolled. (Article 45 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulations) * A student who does not submit the thesis monitoring report on time and does not present it before the commission is considered unsuccessful. A student who is regarded as unsuccessful two times successively or three times intermittently by the committee is dismissed from the institute. (Article 48 of Erciyes University Postgraduate Education Regulation) * A student who does not enter the thesis proposal defense twice without a valid excuse is dismissed from the higher education institution.
13- How can I suspend registration?
A registration suspending petition is submitted to the Graduate School with the approval of the Department within 30 days from the start of the registration period. For at least 1 (one), maximum 2 (two) semesters. (Article 56 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation).
14- Points to be considered during the doctoral course period
• For those who have graduated from the master's program and started their doctorate; Courses of 60 ECTS must be taken in at least two semesters and at most four semesters. Students who are accepted to the doctoral program with a bachelor's degree must complete 120 ECTS courses. (Article 44 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation) • During the course period, Scientific Research and Ethics and Seminar courses are included in 60 ECTS and it is mandatory to take them (120 for those accepted with a Bachelor's degree). (Article 44 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation). ) • If the Scientific Research and Ethics course is taken during graduate education, there is no obligation to take in the doctoral program • Thesis Advisor I and Thesis Advisor II courses must be taken during the course period. It is also obligatory to take them during the Ph.D. Qualification and Thesis Proposal Submission periods. • It is mandatory to be successful in all of the courses taken. (Article 45 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation) • A maximum of 45 ECTS courses can be taken in one semester. (Article 44 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation) • A maximum of 30 ECTS (4 courses) can be taken from a faculty member. (Article 23 of Erciyes University Postgraduate Education Regulation) • A maximum of 30 ECTS courses can be taken from different departments. (With the decision of the Graduate School Administrative Board) • The student can take a maximum of two courses from the graduate programs of different universities. • Another elective course can be taken instead of the failed elective course during the course period. The advisor can implement this process. If the advisor is unable to do this, a course change can be made by applying to the Institute with a course change petition. 15- While graduating from a master’s degree program,
After being successful in the thesis defense exam, the graduation petition, thesis examination approval form and the thesis control form must be sent to the institute via the Department and 5 hardcover theses must be delivered to the institute within 30 days.

If you have not graduated yet after taking these courses, the same courses are taken sequentially until you graduate. (Article 40 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation).
23- How to proceed to the master’s thesis period?
60 ECTS is completed (including Scientific Research Ethics and Seminar), and the student, who certifies in the transcript that he/she has passed all courses, notifies the Institute of the Thesis Proposal Form by means of the Department until the beginning of the following semester. (Article 40 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation)
24- How can I suspend registration?
A registration suspending petition is submitted to the Graduate School with the approval of the Department within 30 days from the start of the registration period. (Article 56 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulations).
25- In which cases is my registration likely to be deleted?
Students who are unable to complete the course period in 4 (four) semesters, who are unable to complete the Scientific Preparation program in two semesters, and who do not submit their thesis at the end of 6 (six) semesters, will be disenrolled. (Article 30 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation).
26- What is the maximum duration of study in Master’s Degree and PhD programs?
6 (Six) semesters for master's degree and 12 (Twelve) semesters for PhD.
27- Matters to be considered during the master’s degree course period
• Courses of 60 ECTS must be taken in at least two semesters and at most four semesters. (Article 39 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation) • During the course period, Scientific Research and Ethics and Seminar courses are included in 60 ECTS and it is mandatory to take them. 28- How to become a private student?
Special student applications are accepted, provided that the student is registered in any graduate program. (Article 16 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation)
29- How many ECTS courses should I take in the scientific preparation program?
The scientific preparation period can be completed by taking at least 30 ECTS courses. (Article 15 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation)
30- What is the scientific preparation program?
As determined in the 15th Article of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation, some departments set quotas for graduates other than their own fields. After completing the scientific preparation period in at least one semester and at most two semesters, the course period begins. (Article 15 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation).
31- The first registration to the Graduate School has been completed. How should I follow my supervisor assignment and course registration procedures?
Students who register after the registration is over, use the program called OBISIS, log in with their TR ID number and register by saying I don't know my password, and they perform many transactions including course registration here.
32- What is the tuition fee?
There is no tuition fee during the maximum periods. The tuition fee is paid after 4 (four) semesters, which is maximum period of study in the master's program, and after 8 (eight) semesters for the doctoral program. Apart from this, if you are registered in another program (Bachelor's, Associate's Degree, Open Education), you have to pay the tuition fee. (Article 20 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation).
33- The final registration has been completed. Should I apply for a postponement of military service?
For registered students, the registration information reports of the students are reported to the relevant institution on a regular basis through the system. A newly registered student does not need to make any request. If he or she has problems, they can apply to the following address (fenbilen.erciyes.edu.tr) with a petition.
34- What should be done for a horizontal transfer application?
Transfer applications are generally accepted for the Fall semester via the announcement on the Graduate School's website. You can find detailed information for application in our announcement.
35- How will I enroll in the Graduate School after the results?
Distance final registrations are implemented on the dates previously determined in the student admission announcement of the relevant semester.
36- My name is on the reserve list, do I have the right to register?
In the event that there are candidates who do not use their right to register after the final registrations are over, it may be time for reserve candidates. The vacant quota announcement according to the programs is announced at https://fbe.erciyes.edu.tr/
37- How are the application results tracked?
The application results are announced at https://enstitubasvuru.erciyes.edu.tr/, by taking account of the dates specified in the announcement and determining percentages according to the 14th Article of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation and to the success rating.
38- I am a foreign national. How should I submit my application?
Document submission is required for foreign applicants. (Delivery of the document can be made in person or with a notarized power of attorney.
39- Can I apply by mail?
It is not possible to apply via mail.
40- What are the application requirements?
In order to apply for PhD and master's programs, according to the 12th Article of the Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation, it is required to graduate from a bachelor's or master's degree program in the relevant field and to have a minimum score of 55 from ALES and a foreign language score of 55 for doctoral programs. There is no language score requirement to be a graduate student. If there is a language score for the master's degree, it is included in the calculation as 20%. (Article 12 of Erciyes University Graduate Education Regulation).
41- What are the institute application date ranges?
